"roll-ups!" is the first word out of my 3 yr old daughter's mouth to me in the morning when she wakes me up. im so guilty - use them for bribery to get them to moving when necessary. i hopefully believed that rolls ups were "better" than the other gummy fruit treats in the same section. so glad GM came out with SIMPLY FRUIT - but they need more flavors and jazzy styling (tie-dye or the wierd cut outs)like the original for my kids to convert. I've tried varieties of fruit leather and my kids are not interested. General Mills LISTEN UP: PLEASE keep adding to the simply fruit line-up - I'll gladly pay a little extra to know that it is healthier. Oh, and maybe you can sneak in some spinach and veggies into it?? Aloha and mahalo!

Or just make your own (see the recipe by clicking my name). Just fruit, sugar and lemon. Easy.

My child used to eat these as well, the originals and the Simply Fruit. However, we have now converted to the Archer Farms Real Fruit Strips that are sold at Target. They are a half serving of fruit in the 14g strip and I can pronounce everything in them. Nutrition Facts: cal. 45, fat 0, sodium 5 mg, potassium 85 mg, carbs. 11g, dietary fiber 1g, sugars 9g) We have tried eating fruit roll ups since and they now taste gross to us because we are use to the real fruit in these. Trader Joe's also sells individually wrapped real fruit strips but these are more expensive. Thought I would share another healthy option.

You can buy fruit leather that's even healthier, IMO, and organic at Target under their private label.

Also, if you have a cheap dehydrator, you can make your own rolls! Just puree fruit (or buy a jar of applesauce, I loved apple fruit roll ups as a kid but they were quickly discontinued!) and then pour onto the special solid sheets they sell for dehydrator pans. Run the machine until they aren't sticky anymore. SO GOOD.

My Daughter (age 4) can not have food dyes and when I found these and let her have one, she ran up to her dad yelling "No dye Daddy! I can eat these." It's great to find a new product I feel good about giving my kids.

I'm not sure how old you are. I'm 34 and remember when Fruit Roll-Ups were first introduced. Many of my freinds have kids now, few of whom have ever been allowed these neon corn syrup treats. I came across them and was shocked. These aren't my childhood snacks. I stumbled across the Simply Fruit today and just enjoyed my first one. It was exactly what I remember eating as a kid. I'm glad they've brought back a quality product (granted, I won't eat them every day) that I thought was long lost.
